What exactly is Hobamine?

Hobamine is a form of the naturally occurring compound 2-hydroxybenzylamine (2-HOBA).  Hobamine works by rapidly capturing specific reactive compounds formed by oxidative stress.   This capture prevents those compounds from binding to and damaging other cellular components like proteins, lipids, or DNA and impeding normal function of the cell.

Why Hobamine Over Antioxidants?

Antioxidants may not be ideal because they block the development of oxidative stress altogether.  While that sounds like a good thing, our bodies need reactive oxygen species (ROS) which are created during the process of oxidative stress.  Our body needs normal levels of ROS because they are needed for cell signaling and immune system defense.

Instead of consuming high amounts of antioxidants, TSI proposes supplementing with Hobamine.

Hobamine – A Breakthrough Hero

“The Hobamine story is about the villain versus the hero. The bad guy is what happens when everyday stress results in highly reactive free radical compounds. The hero, Hobamine, sweeps in to lock out the bad guys, creating a compound that is mere waste.” – Shawn Baier, MS, MBA, Vice President of Business Development at TSI Group

TSI states that Hobamine is the only nutritional intervention on the market to address the negative impact of oxidative stress without blocking the body’s normal, healthy processes.

Hobamine – A Breakthrough Non-Antioxidant

Hobamine (2-HOBA) has entered the spotlight as a new ingredient to help improve the balance of cellular health according to an article in Nutrition Insight.

Hobamine is a patented ingredient from TSI Group that is a naturally occurring compound of hydroxybenzylamine (2-HOBA).  This ingredient is a breakthrough because it specifically targets the negative impact from oxidative stress without blunting the body’s normal and healthy processes.

Health at a Granular Level

Cellular health is the foundation of overall health and becomes especially more important as we age.

“Cellular health matters because it has an important impact on how well the body functions, repairs itself, produces new body tissue and much more,” says principal investigator John A. Rathmacher, Ph.D.

We are made up of trillions of cells and those cells are the building blocks of the body.  Cell from tissues, tissues form organs, and organs form the systems that make up our bodies.  Everything that happens in our bodies starts on a cellular level.  In other words – the healthier our cells, the healthier our body will be.

More Than an Antioxidant

Hobamine is notably not an antioxidant because it allows our bodies to continue their normal processes like cell signaling and immune function while minimizing the adverse effects of oxidative stress.

Whereas, antioxidants avoid the development of oxidative stress all together, but then this blocks our bodies from its normal physiological functions and pathways.

“Hobamine could easily become the next new vitamin C or vitamin D in terms of consumer acceptance,” comments VP of business development at TSI Group Shawn Baier. “It is a defender of every cell in the body.”

Greg Macpherson Explains the Radical Approach to Cellular Health – Hobamine

Greg Macpherson, biotechnologist and founder of SRW Laboratories sits down with Naturally Informed to discuss cellular health, oxidative stress, and how Hobamine can play a role in this.

Biotechnologist and founder of SRW Laboratories Greg Macpherson arms crossed in front of a brick building

For more than 30 years Greg Macpherson has worked in the health arena, with a focus over the last decade in the biotechnology sector.  He has been specifically studying the aging process at a cellular level.  This work led him to writing the book Harnessing the Nine Hallmarks of Aging and then founding the company SRW Laboratories which focuses on formulating natural products to slow the onset of aging and disease.

The Importance of Cellular Health

Cell are the building blocks of the body.  They provide your body’s structure and carry out specialized functions important to your health and wellbeing.

Aging begins within your cells, however it’s only recently that scientists have been able to identify what can cause aging in the cells.

Oxidative stress has been shown to be one of the major causes of cellular damage in all human beings.  But luckily a new ingredient has proven to bring hope to blunting damage from oxidative stress.

Ingredient at the Forefront of Cellular Health

“Hobamine (2-HOBA) represents a really significant advance in the approach to reducing the impact of oxidative stress because it acts as a circuit breaker between the downstream of fits of oxidative stress and something called an isolevuglandins which is a highly reactive molecule.  It’s actually the real reason that oxidative stress is so bad for us and Hobamine does this without blurring what they call healthy reactive oxygens signaling.”

Novel Ingredient that May Slow Down the Aging Process

A new ingredient – Hobamine has the potential to help slow down the aging process.

Aging is inevitable but is heavily impacted by our environment from pollution to eating habits.  As our body ages there are significant changes to the way the body’s cell’s function.  These changes can alter our appearance and the way we feel on the outside.

“By using the nine hallmarks of aging, or identified causes of aging, we can literally reprogram our cells to function at a much younger biological age than our current chronological age,” States Greg Macpheson, biotechnologist, pharmacist, and founder of SRW Laboratories.

A New Discovery for Premature Aging – Hobamine

SRW Labs Debuts Line of Products for Cellular Health

SRW Labs new line of products features Hobamine, a new innovative ingredient tied to DNA protection and cellular health.

SRW Laboratories led by founder Greg Macpherson has launched a line of products focused on cellular health supplements.  They pride themselves on utilizing innovative ingredients and work with a team of researchers to create unique products to promote health and wellness.

The Discovery of Hobamine

The novel ingredient Hobamine (scientifically known as 2-hydroxybenzlyamine; or 2-HOBA) was discovered by Vanderbilt University scientists through research spearheaded by Dr. Naji Abumrad, who is now a part of the SRW Advisory Board.

In the early 2000s researchers at Vanderbilt developed 2-HOBA (Hobamine) and found it to be an effective ingredient to block the formation of IsoLG protein adducts in platelets and other cells.  What they found is that IsoLGs accumulate and can cause a variety of damage to the cell when there are too many of them.  What makes 2-HOBA (Hobamine) unique is its ability to act against compounds responsible for oxidative stress without blocking the processes needed for cell function.  This is an advanced approach to reducing the impact of oxidative stress.

The Evolution of Epigenetics

Epigenetics research surrounding DNA repair has opened the door to new advancements in supplements that could help slow the aging process.

Recent research in Epigenetics has started to look at the aging process from a cellular level, opening new doors at how we may look at preventive health moving forward.

close up of DNA / article talking about cellular health and how science is able to improve health from a cellular level with new innovative ingredients like Hobamine (2-HOBA)

What is Epigenetics?

The dictionary defines epigenetics as ‘the study of changes in organisms caused by modification of gene expression rather than alteration of the genetic code itself’.  This means that our behaviors and environment can cause changes that affect the way our genes work.

Research in this developing field allows scientists to look inside cells and measure the effectiveness of lifestyle and various interventions they are making.  In return, this allows us to figure out we can try to prevent or reverse cellular aging.

“Up until now, we’ve aged fairly well with basic lifestyle management and a little luck.  Today, we have the precise tools to take it to another level- the cellular level,” said Greg Macpherson, a biotechnologist, pharmacist, and founder of SRW Laboratories.

Protect Your Cells with Hobamine

Hobamine (2-HOBA) is a breakthrough ingredient gaining interest in the market.  This ingredient is found naturally in Himalayan Tartary Buckwheat and has shown to protect DNA against free radical damage.  It acts as a scavenger for reactive carbonyl species that cause stress in our cells.

Hobamine | The Game Changer

An article in 360 Magazine talks about cellular health, free radicals, and a new promising molecule to protect our cells.

Cellular health is becoming a popular topic and the push to be healthier at a cellular level as well.

When we begin the discussion of cellular, eventually the talk of free radicals comes into play.  It is believed that these molecules are to blame for many diseases that people suffer from.  And that the answer to counteract them is antioxidants but digging deeper we now know that all free radicals are NOT bad.

We actually need free radicals to be healthy.  Free radicals are harnessed by our cells to send messages around the cell and between cells.  They also are an integral part of our immune system.   Free radicals help to slow bugs down while the rest of our immune system is fighting off infection.

While the solution before was to take antioxidants to help get rid of free radicals, we now realize we still need them in the body to function.

Hobamine – The Game Changer for Cellular Health

A new and promising strategy is supplementing with the molecule Hobamine.  Hobamine is the patented ingredient scientifically known as 2-hydroxybenzylamine or 2-HOBA.  It has been found that this molecule protects our cells from the downstream effects of free radicals while still leaving the healthy free radicals in the body to do their work.  This makes Hobamine a game changer when it comes to cellular health.

Hobamine works to mitigate the damage that bad free radicals cause in our cells.  Free radicals, when unstable, will damage whatever is closest to them from our DNA to cell machinery and cell membranes.  Over time when too much damage has been done, this is where we can see affects as we age.  Hobamine can help neutralize this process to improve overall cell health.
